Experimenting

Can you appreciate the past
And focus on the dread
Of casting lines into what's next,
Appealing to the dead?

Requite the loss and longing woe,
The baker's bread is burnt,
I cannot choose to purify
What furnace cannot churn.

Where can I stand when all is fall,
Floorboards creak dilution,
Plaster crumbles, the roof is rank,
To paint is the solution.
