Let's say you are a friend and you come running to inform me that you are in love. Nearly breaking into song, you extol the virtues of love. "Love," you muse, "is a many-splendored thing." For twenty minutes, you rhapsodize about the magnificence of love while making only passing references to your girlfriend. Would it not be at least a possibility to surmise from this that you are more enchanted with falling in love than with the girl?
This can easily become the case in our relationship with the Lord. it becomes subjective: Obsession with the act of faith replaces the centrality of the object of faith, Jesus Christ...
